Posted in GRČ, Paul Chain, Paul Chain Violet Theatre, Releases on March 2nd, 2016 by foadmaster2022

After being almost one week away with FOAD‘s stand at the ultra-sick Netherlands Death Fest we’re finally back and ready to announce that the 3 releases that we had announced a while back are finally here and ready to ship! So, GRČSloboda Narodu” LP, PAUL CHAIN VIOLET THEATREOpera 4th” gatefold LP and PAUL CHAINLive a Cattolica 5.08.1988” LP are out now!  Most pre-orders have been sent already, please be patient if you have ordered in the last week as we’re still catching up those that arrived since we left for NDF, and there are many. We still have a few copies on limited splatter vinyl for both GRČ and “Opera 4th“, so be fast if you want to get them!

More details about each release:

GRČ “Sloboda Narodu” LP  (F.O.A.D. 088)

Unsung heroes outside their country for us one of the greatest treasures that the Yugoslavian Rock scene spawned in the 80s, GRČ were formed back in 1982 in the early Punk/Dark/New Wave scene of Rijeka, Croatia. Their album “Sloboda Narodu” originally released in 1987 only on tape represents one of the most gloomy and hopeless expressions of negativity that whatever you may label as Dark, Death Rock or Post Punk has ever conceived. It transpires blood, secular blackness and distress at its purest form.  Their musical approach is a solid amalgamation of Doom tinged post-industrial Rock (think of early Swans and Young Gods) with uncompromised Dark Punk atmospheres. The incredible downtuned vocals of their ominous frontman Zoff consolidate a feeling of solemn black decadence that go hand in hand with wonderful lyrics, a desperate cry for freedom in a landscape of war, urban decay, social oppression.

With the opening track “Noćas se Beograd pali” (“Belgrade’s burning tonight”) they somehow predicted the bloody conflict that dismembered Yugoslavia few years later, and the mood is equally hopeless on the following “Blood is still running” or “Black gloves“.  The album also includes a musical trasposition of the 2WW poem “Jama” (“The pit”) by Ivan Goran Kovačić, one of the strongest and harshest examples of anti-war poetry ever written. By releasing this masterpiece for the first time on vinyl (as back then there were no funds to go beyond a limited run on cassette) we are proud of making justice to what we consider a completely undiscovered classic representing an area that has always been vital in terms of musical creativity. Today’s newcomers of Dark and DeathRock should take their hats off to a band like GRČ.

Remastered from the original 1/4″ reels, housed in a special rough reverse board jacket including a 8 page booklet with lyrics (also translated in English), rare photos and flyers.

AVAILABLE IN TWO DIFFERENT VERSIONS:

Die-hard edition on smokey grey vinyl (limited to 100 copies)

Black vinyl (limited to 200 copies)

PAUL CHAIN VIOLET THEATRE  “Opera 4th”  gatefold LP + poster  (F.O.A.D. 090)

Official re-issue of this Psychedelic Doom Metal masterpiece originally released in 1987 and sold out (on vinyl) for almost 3 decades. This high quality edition has been entirely remastered and comes in a full glossy gatefold cover also including a two-sided A3 poster with the creepy “Death devours men and beasts” art + two poems written by Giancarlo Bolther. Paul Chain started out in the horror-shock band Death SS in 1977, a band that combined evil occult Metal and theatrics. In 1979 he formed Paul Chain Violet Theatre while he was still in Death SS. He later (1984 to be precise) left Death SS to concentrate on Paul Chain Violet Theatre, shortening the name to Paul Chain in 1987.  The various Paul Chain incarnations released a large number of albums ranging from Traditional Doom (often coming close to very early Black Sabbath) to more experimental music, and gained massive underground fame in doing so. Amongst others, he has worked with Lee Dorrian (Cathedral) and Wino (St Vitus).  “Opera 4th” is an apocalyptic journey into the most deviated realms of this genius’ creativity.

It starts with the 30 minute long experimental madness of “Our Solitude (Birth, Life, Death)” a space-doom nightmare dragging the soul into a cryptic universe of psychedelic synths and vocal echoes. The 3 songs on Side B bring us back to a solid, Sabbath-tinged (doomish) Metal approach that at times recalls Paul’s early steps with Death SS and at times develop into ’70s rock strangeness, like the closing “Resurrection In Christ“. All in all, Paul Chain is a musical genius and anybody into Traditional Doom and Metal in all its forms should check out his work.

AVAILABLE IN TWO DIFFERENT VERSIONS:

Die-hard edition on color-in-color electric blue vs aqua blue vinyl (limited to 100 copies)

Black vinyl (limited to 400 copies)

==================

PAUL CHAIN “Live a Cattolica 5.08.1988” LP

Limited edition of 300 copies on purple funeral vinyl. Ultra rare and never-heard-to-date live recording resurrected from the archives of Marco/EVERSOR that booked the show (known as “Metal Devastation: Live!“) at the time. This incredible performance offers us P.C. at one of the peaks of his unmatched talent, backed by a legendary line-up with even Sanctis Ghoram of DEATH SS singing on 3 songs.

After a sinister intro, this incredible set bursts through songs taken from “Ash“, “In the darkness” to the classic “Inquisitor” from DEATH SS‘ “Evil Metal” EP and as icing on the cake delivers 2 completely unreleased ones that never made it on any studio album.  Hands down one of the most enjoyable live recordings in the entire PAUL CHAIN discography, the sound has that typical raw and intense feel of many 80s Metal recordings, and it has been specially mastered for vinyl at Toxic Basement Studio, for the best possible sonic impact. Includes rare photos, the original flyer of the show and a detailed liner note written by the Italian fan club of this genius!

Another beast of rawness and cruelty has been unleashed on FOAD Records!! As previously announced, this is the month of Germany’s POISON and their two cult Demos “Bestial Death” and “Awakening Of The Dead” finally being released on vinyl in their entirety on two separated single LPs each one including a stunning 16 page booklet filled with rare photos, flyers and ‘zine excerpts.

They have boot just been delivered at our warehouse so it’s official: POISONBestial death” LP and “Awakening of the dead” LP are both OUT NOW on F.O.A.D. Records! We are starting to ship all preorders, the ultra-ltd die-hard edition of 50 copies got sold out in less than 1 hour but we still have a handful of the one on splatter vinyl ltd to 100 so act fast!

More in detail about each LP:

POISON “Bestial death” LP (F.O.A.D. 095)

Raw, extreme and BESTIAL blackened Death Metal at its most savage form. Recorded in fall 1985 and following their classic debut Demotape “Sons of evil“, this second chapter offers another journey into the realms of sonic perversion and mental obscurity. Ripped from the best sounding source that we found after selecting several copies from our team of collectors always ready to support, this LP offers another chapter in POISON‘s uncompromised evil, keeping the original sound the most faithful and pristine as possible with that claustrophobic feeling of cavernous horror that no other band has been able to recreate at so crude dimensions.

Alternating moments of ultra-fast (for the time) proto blasting mayhem with slowed down breaks of suffocating Doom, “Bestial death” recalls the sickest elements of Hellhammer’s demos and of course the school of Venom, or to keep it closer to Teutonic savagery, Sodom on their “Witching Metal” demotape.

Deluxe sleeve with restored original artworks and a thick 16 page booklet ’80s fanzine styled including old interviews, reviews, flyers and rare photos. For the very first time on vinyl and of course licensed and approved by the band.

Available in 2 different versions:

Limited edition (only 100 copies) on grey and bone-white splatter vinyl + booklet

Black Vinyl

==================

POISON “Awakening of the dead” LP (F.O.A.D. 096)

3rd installement in FOAD‘s deadly mission of bringing back to light POISON‘s official Demotapes in the most complete and pristine shape. After their terrifying first two abominations (“Sons of evil” – 1985 and “Bestial death” -1985) and a live tape, 1986 sees these pioneering German maniacs deliver another nightmarish assault of dark, creepy Death Metal. It’s the turn of “Awakening of the dead” that even showing some kind of progress in their brutal primitivity and a 4-track production (wooah!), still delivers the insane rawness and hallucinating morbidity they were feared for.

On a promo sheet of the time they were describing it as follows: “POISON play a very extreme mixture of ultra-fast + ripping Death Metal and more classical, Black Sabbath-inspired Doom stuff, without trying to follow and special trend or ripping off any famous band“.

It’s all there, think of a death chamber unleashing the most stabbing screams of terror in a cthulhu-ish pace alternating blasts of uncontrolled fury with Hellhammer tinged breakdowns. Once again mastered at Toxic Basement Studio from the best sounding source in existence still keeping the impact and genuinity of the original sound as it was on tape. Deluxe sleeve with restored original artworks and a thick 16 page booklet ’80s fanzine styled including old interviews, reviews, flyers and rare photos. For the very first time on vinyl and of course licensed and approved by the band.

Available in 2 different versions:

Limited edition (only 100 copies) on brown and bone-white splatter vinyl + booklet

POISON “Bestial death” LP and “Awakening of the dead” LP… pre-orders are open NOW!!

Posted in Poison, Pre Orders, Releases on January 12th, 2016 by foadmaster2022

Are you ready for a double-strike of the rawest, dirtiest and most infernal Teutonic Death Metal of the ’80s? After bringing back to light their debut aberration known as “Sons of evil” (1985) we just couldn’t stop it there. When it comes to old tape trading mania and our passion for unearthing on vinyl the sickest and most obscure Demos that paved way to a lot of bands that followed, Germany’s POISON represent one of the most genuine and innovative forms of sonic violence one can think of… raw, evil and uncompromised. Totally spontaneous in their extremity and fury.

So it was about time to give the same treatment on LP to the subsequent 2 demos… Here we go, pre-orders for POISONBestial death” LP and “Awakening of the dead” LP start now!! As a good memory of our previous chapter (“Sons of evil” LP – totally sold out), check this amazing review on shit-fi.com …As for the previous LP, you will call us bastards for the ultra-ltd die hard editions of only 50 copies with alternate hand-numbered cover and different splatter vinyl configuration, because they will sell out in minutes. Act equally fast for the other limited splatter versions, as the other time they were gone real fast. Ok, so more in detail about these two monstruous offerings:

Posted in Attomica, Ratos De Porao, Releases on December 30th, 2015 by foadmaster2022

Here we are at the end of 2015, this year has been really insane for F.O.A.D. as we have brought to light more than 20 releases keeping a production standard of two releases monthly, that is really crazy for a DIY label run by just a handful of maniacs… And you’ll be happy to know that our schedule for 2016 is already fully booked and it’s even scarier than what you’ve seen so far! So to give the right coup the grace to 2015, we’re happy to say that our announced Brazilian thrashing combo for December is out now!

RATOS DE PORÃOFeijoada acidente – International” LP and ATTOMICADisturbing the noise” Gatefold LP are both released, we’re packing and shipping all pre-orders now. There’s still a few (less than 30) copies left of the die-hard version of RxDxPx on “feijoada suco gàstrico” splatter vinyl, so don’t miss the chance! More in detail about each release:

RATOS DE PORÃO “Feijoada acidente – International” LP

F.O.A.D. Records‘ legacy with RATOS DE PORÃO comes to a 5th head-kicking chapter… “Feijoada acidente? – International” for the first time on vinyl in a special audiophile version sounding better than ever!! RxDxPx are hands down the undisputed kings of South American Thrashcore/Punk delivering their fast and aggressive brand of Hardcore since 1981. On this album recorded in 1995 and originally released on CD by Roadrunner Records, they pay homage to those bands from all over the world that influenced their sound through their over 3 decade career, both in terms of raging speed and mind-blowing intensity. So the choice of bands covered on this monsterpiece ranges from the corrosive D-beat explosions of RawPunk maniacs like The SHITLICKERS, EU’S ARSE, ANTI CIMEX, KAAOS, CHAOTIC DISCHORD to some angry HC inferno when they revisit classics by BLACK FLAG, CIRCLE JERKS, POISON IDEA, MINOR THREAT, INFERNO to the 3-chord PunkRock energy of VIBRATORS, DEAD BOYS, THE SAINTS, REZILLOS and so on!

All this madness backed by an ultra solid powerful production that simply destroys! Housed in a solid, matte laminated jacket with 250 gr carton insert featuring photos and liner notes.

Available in 2 different versions:

Die-hard edition on “feijoada suco gástrico” special splatter vinyl strictly limited to 100 copies only

Solid black vinyl (400 copies)

==================

ATTOMICA “Disturbing the noise” gatefold LP

Brazilian Thrash artillery at its finest!! Originally released in 1991, “Disturbing the noise” was the band’s 3rd full length and probably the peak of aggression and tightness in their discography. This is hands down their best (and fastest) release according to FOAD team’s taste, that’s why we offered them to bring it back to light, as the original pressing on Discogs and Ebay is sold at ridiculously horrendous prices… $ 200 and surroundings! ATTOMICA‘s sonic offering on this album is a solid overdose of brutal no frills Thrash. Take the riffing and ballistic execution of SEPULTURA in their “Beneath the remains” era and mix it with the speed and ferocity of American masters like DEMOLITION HAMMER and you get a remote idea of the punching tornado these maniacs were able to deliver. No, it doesn’t have absurd technical showmenship or acrobatic soloing, but the truth is that there’s no need of these things, at least when you are playing only in order to crush the listeners’ skulls and necks.

These seven bullets will hit you quickly and mercilessly: if you are looking for some straightforward plain THRASH, you should surely check this out and have some simple headbanging fun. Housed in a tick high glossy gatefold cover with rare and unreleased photos!

Available in 2 different versions:

Die-hard edition on “radioactive sign” red/black vinyl strictly limited to 100 copies only

Solid black vinyl (400 copies)
