Posted in Pre Orders, Releases, Violent Noise Attack, Wartorn on October 6th, 2015 by foadmaster2022

As you probably noticed over the past few years, F.O.A.D. Records frantically moves through different branches of the most obscure underground without fossilize on a specific style. We ranged over many different scenes and sound choices from old school Hardcore/Punk to Thrash, Death Metal and even some Doom/Sludge… and you all know that once in a while we push the grinding accelerator pedal and deliver some of the fastest, sickest and anti-musical delirium. This is the case of our schedule for the next 2 months, so beware!! Prepare your ear-drums as the massacre starts now… VIOLENT NOISE ATTACKComplete deafness 1988-1989” LP and WARTORNDestroy all monsters!” LP are up for pre-orders!

More details about each release:

VIOLENT NOISE ATTACK “Complete deafness 1988-1989” LP

Total discography of this terrifying Grind/Noisecore unit hailing from France… V.N.A. (Violent Noise Attack) was the side-project of a crew of friends from the late 80s French scene formed by members of the Thrash band NOMED, Pat from the highly missed label “Thrash Records” (that released Exit 13, Carbonized, Sorcery, Sentenced, Vital Remains etc…)  and local HC bands/zine editors. Their debut demotape “Final execution“, the split 7” with AGATHOCLES and the song on “1984, the fourth” Comp. LP have been always seen as some of the most intense and devastating expressions of the early short-song Grind/Noisecore era, respected by the most deranged noise extremists all over the world. Try to imagine a mix of SORE THROAT, NAPALM DEATH‘s b-side of “Scum” and FEAR OF GOD and you get the idea of the brain-drilling mayhem these maniacs were able to deliver, with a studio production that was fairly above the average level of the period.

This LP collects all their existing recordings, mastered from sources directly provided and licensed by the band members.. 90 SONGS of absolute ear blasting horror! Side A includes their demo (1988), the split 7″ with AGATHOCLES (1989) and a couple of unreleased studio tracks.  Side B has all never heard before stuff: a rehearsal, a full live set and even a sound-check! Comes with a 4 page insert featuring liner notes, photos, original artworks and flyers. This record is entirely dedicated to VNA’s members André Lemesle and Patrick Blondeau that both passed away few years ago.. R.I.P.!

Limited edition of 300 copies, first 100 on slightly marbled yellow vinyl (only 30 left so act faster than a VNA song!!!)

WARTORN “Destroy all monsters!” gatefold LP

32 song discography including all the studio recordings (1991-1993) of this high speed thrashing Hardcore brigade from the U.K. Take the best elements and impact of the craziest Japanese, American and British fast-core, blend them all together with some breakneck tempo changes and you get an approximate picture of the aggression they were able to deliver. This is so fast and unpredictable that at times it even oozes of an early pioneering attempt of what some US bands of the time were already labeling as Power Violence, e.g. think of Infest, Neanderthal, Crossed Out or No Comment… Here’s a short biography to introduce them more specifically:

“Formed in late 1990 by SORE THROAT vocalist Rich “Militia” Walker after the spontaneous combustion of both bands he was playing in (SORE THROAT and WARFEAR), WARTORN began with only one aim, to create a mix of Japanese style HC such as GUDON, SYSTEMATIC DEATH and GAUZE and the ultra-fast attack of America’s SIEGE and YOUTH KORPX. Joining him in this new band were long time comrade Ian The Merciless of local 80’s Death Metal legends QUOTHROS on vocals and Dutch lunatic drummer Lennaert Roomer. Early rehearsals also included DISASTER’s guitar player Browny on bass. And with this embryonic line up the band recorded the raw and primitive “Last among Equals” demo tape on a battered 4 track recorder in early 1991. Pretty soon after Browny moved on to concentrate on DISASTER full time, so the ex-bassist of WARFEAR was brought in and an additional vocalist called Mel. With this line up the band began playing live aiming to make peoples ears bleed in the local scene with their unrelenting high velocity assaults, much to the dismay of the fashion following local peers as WARTORN’s music stood out like a sore thumb in a sea of pretentious Black Flag acolytes. In 1992 the band recorded tracks for the “Trapped In A tooth gear” sampler LP and a split EP with Rich & Lennaerts other band NAILBOMB (The original, not the band who stole their name after playing a show with them)”.

As with all bands, the inevitable musical differences cropped up, the bassist was becoming increasingly bewildered by the fast progressing style which just kept on getting faster, and Mel the vocalist just disappeared after one gig never to be seen again. Parting ways with the bass player in late 1992 WARTORN replaced him with Big Jim Rushby (IRONSIDE / IRON MONKEY) and began teaching him the tracks for a new EP. Eventually in early 1993 WARTORN entered Fulton St Studios and in three hours laid down 11 brand new songs and a cover of Madball’s “Get Out”. Further gigging with the likes of Voorhees and Chaos UK followed before the band played their final show in the summer of 1994 before Lennaert and Jim both moved to different parts of the country thus rendering the band inactive only a few months before the second EP “Banzai” was released on the guitar player of DROPDEAD’s label over a year after it was recorded…”

Housed in a solid gatefold cover including lyrics, photos and flyers.  Limited edition of 300 copies, first 100 on marbled green vinyl.

– RAW POWER “Mine to kill” (extended version) digipack CD

4th and final installment of the series that sees FOAD Records re-issuing all RAW POWER‘s albums of the ’80s in their definitive, top-quality version making justice to these ageless classic… After “You are the victim” (1983), “Screams from the gutter” (1984) and “After your brain” (1986) it’s the turn of “Mine to kill” (1989), another uppercut in the jaws showing RP at the top of the game crossovering their manic riff-oriented Hardcore with the most intense and raging Thrash assault. Together with the incredible “Screams from the gutter” this is hands down the fastest and tightest delivery in the band’s discography of the first decade. As for all their previous releases on FOAD, this has been scrupulously remastered from the 1st generation master at Toxic Basement Studio, taking the original dynamics and sonic impact to the most powerful and energetic stage. And there’s more.. as special bonus you will also find a completely UNRELEASED SESSION (12 tracks!) that was the original 1st studio take of the album, made in Modena/Italy still with Helder on drums! As explained by the band: “RAW POWER began the recording of “Mine to kill” in Italy, at Umbi Studio, and when it came to an end there were discussions about the final product. The decision to re-record the album in England with a different producer saw Helder leave, the one most satisfied with the work they had just ended, and having already had a brief live experience with the other boys, Fabiano Bianco (Bloody Riot / Raff) replaced him on drums. The fourth album came out and the previous version was trashed. The bonus tracks added to this version was what would have been “Mine to kill” at the beginning, feeling like the first real attempt to change the style and understanding even more how the personalities within Raw Power differed between them, something that has always characterized the band from any other reality“. Of those 12 tracks, 4 are completely unreleased as they haven’t been re-recorded on the final version of the album, and they simply kill! Raw, aggressive and dizzyingly precise Hardcore from Italy’s most iconic band of the unforgettable “furious years”! Comes in a deluxe digipak sleeve with 11 page booklet including rare photos, flyers, lyrics and liner notes!

Price: 10 euro

S.D.I. “Bloodsucker – demo 1986” one-sided LP: pre-orders start NOW!!

Posted in Pre Orders, Releases, S.D.I. on July 20th, 2015 by foadmaster2022

So it’s time to unleash the last FOAD beast for this summer, we’re melting from the heat and our warehouse has turned into a furnace, so we’re ending July with another release and then we’ll get back in the trenches from September onwards, even if in August we’ll stay here shipping all mailorder packages, wholesales and trades, as always. Our final recipe for July is a megamoshing attack of old school Teutonic metal… Legendary German Speed/Thrash aggressors S.D.I. (Satans Defloration Inc.) team up with FOAD to unearth their ultra-rare debut studio recording 1986, a cult session known as “Bloodsucker” Demo used only as promo to get them signed to a label for their first full length LP. This has been re-transfered from the original reels and remixed too, as there were no decent copies around of the original mix that could be used as master. So taking it from the 1/4″ reels, you get it in the best possible sound quality thanks to the amazing restoring skills of The Hand Of Doom at Toxic Basement Studio.

If you’re into classic no frills German Thrash and Speed Metal, this has the powerful and straightforward riffing assault to gnaw your neck vertebrae into a frantic headbangin’ delirium until you are ready to jump in a suicidal MEGAMOSH!! It reminds of early day Helloween (1985 Ep era) and Iron Angel meet Destruction, all channelled through a more Metal/Punk infused approach. One sided LP with B-Side silkscreened in white with a rare artwork from the original promo. 4 page old school booklet/insert with extensive liner notes, the complete “Bloodsucker” promo photoset and never seen before flyers/artworks.

A must have for all you maniacs into ’80s German Thrash and Speed Metal! Pre-orders kick off now, we’ll start to ship on July 28th 2015 (even if some copies will be already available at FOAD’s summer festival “United As One #2“) and the official release date is set for the first and exclusive S.D.I. italian show at “Lambrusco Open Air” fest on August 1st.

Available in 2 different versions:

Die-hard electric blue vinyl (limited to 100 copies)

Solid Black vinyl (limited to 400)

CRUMBSUCKERS “Turn back time: the early years 1983-1985” 2xLP+CD and double CD, pre-orders start NOW!!

Posted in Crumbsuckers, Pre Orders, Releases on June 29th, 2015 by foadmaster2022

It’s no secret that we are total maniacs when it comes to seminal New York City Hardcore.  You saw it with S.O.D./Crab Society North, Ludichrist and with what we still repute one of our favourite releases in FOAD‘s endless discography: CRUMBSUCKERSTurn back time: the early years 1983-1985“, a blistering 69 song marathon collecting all the band’s existing recordings prior to their legendary debut “Life of dreams“.  The first edition sold out in the blink of an eye, and due to the high demand we thought it was about time to deliver a new pressing.

Now, here’s the sad part of the story: we have sent this to the pressing plant in February ordering a stunning “Black & Blue” ltd. splatter version that had to be ready for the band’s headlining performance at this year’s Black n’ Blue Bowl in NYC…we wanted to surprise the fans and provide something exclusive for the festival.  But thanks to the shitty Record Store Day hype that keeps all vinyl factories highly congested in the early months of the year until April, we have received this just now, 2 months after the BnB festival. Bummer, but who fucking cares. What really matters is that this Hardcore classic is back in stock, there is a marvellous new splatter edition that differs from the 1st pressing and above all this time we are also making it available on CD as a double CD version housed in a multipanel digipak with a thick booklet!

So more in detail about the contents:

if you’re looking for crucial, full on energy 80’s New York Hardcore, then look no further!! This is the most exhaustive, high quality retrospective of the pre-”Life of dreams” recordings, 69 songs including all their Demos (the legendary “Crumbsucker cave” demo 1983, “Charge of the light brigade” Demo 1985 and two unreleased tapes 1983-1984) + a bonus CD with 3 great sounding live sets 1984-85 at CBGB‘s… one opening for the Cro-Mags!  This collection shows the band’s natural evolution from basic, no frills early ’80s Hardcore to the mad thrashing assault that made “Life of dreams” and “B.O.M.B.” two unforgettable lessons of true NYHC crossovered with technical and well delivered Metal.

All the stuff included here features their former singer David Brady, and displays embryonic versions of all those anthems that were later re-recorded on their debut masterpiece + a bunch of unreleased tracks!  As usual all the stuff here has been mastered from 1st generation tapes with extreme care and passion by the Hand of Doom @ Toxic Basement Studio, a real guarantee of quality and passion!

VINYL: Three sided double LP (one side silk-screened featuring the original Taggart’s crumb sucker art) housed in a thick gatefold jacket including rare photos, flyers and liner notes + exclusive artwork by Lucas Kalina… bonus Live at CBGB CD sealed inside of the gatefold in a 5″ cardboard sleeve!

CD:  double CD in a 6-panel digipack including a 16 page booklet (same contents as the vinyl version)

For those who are still not familiar with this mandatory band (shame!) make sure to read this great writeup about their classic debut album “Life of dreams“, it’s the best way to get introduced to their awesome power… quote: “this was like the best of Bad Brains and Exodus rolled into one”!!! And IT’S SO TRUE!

Pre-orders start now, we’ll start to ship on July 9th 2015

AVAILABLE IN 3 DIFFERENT VERSIONS:

Limited Black n’ Blue splatter (only 100 copies)

Black vinyl (300 copies)

2xCD digipack

EYEHATEGOD / PSYCHO Split 9″ pre-orders start NOW!

Posted in Eyehategod, Pre Orders, Psycho, Releases on June 8th, 2015 by foadmaster2022

Ok, this is hands down our most incendiary release for summer 2015… We have been working on this for a veeeery long time and it’s a dream come true finally to be here to announce it. EYEHATEGOD / PSYCHO Split 9″ is up for pre-orders!!

The official release date has been set for the Hellfest Open Air Festival in Clisson, France where EHG will perform on Sunday 21st June and where, as usual, you will find us at FOAD‘s massive record stand in the Metal Market area. Mailorder copies will start to ship on June 23 as soon as we’ll be back!

New Orleans’ Sludgecore lords EHG team up with Boston’s sickest grinding Hardcore veterans Psycho on a devastating 9″ slab of vinyl!! Yes, ninefuckinginches of uncontrollable, sheer insanity and negativity from two bands that have never failed delivering anguished, blood-dripping sonic violence over the last 3 decades.. Both sides have been recorded live in Europe during their summer tours June-July 2011, and the audio quality of these soundboard recordings is simply astonishing, clean, powerful and heavy as a steamroller crushing your eardrums! Both sides capture the very core of the intensity of these bands on stage, and you know what to expect: EHG crank out 3 tormented classics of misanthropy-tinged heaviness.. “Story of the eye“, “New Orleans is the New Vietnam” and “Sister fucker“, PSYCHO complete the hecatomb with 6 short and fast stabs of rabid Hardcore/Grind in their own matchless style.

What else to add?  We chose to do this as a 9″ because we find it a highly collectable and enjoyable format and reminds us some classic oversized 8″ pearls of the ’80s Japanese Hardcore scene of which we are total maniacs… and to get even closer to that feeling, the front cover art was drawn by Malleus taking inspiration from an old Kikejii flexi disc released in 1983 by ADK Records! It also comes with an insert with both bands’ photos!

Dedicated to Joey LaCaze and Seth Putnam

Available in 3 different versions:

DIE-HARD TRANSPARENT RED WITH BLUE SLICES limited to 150 copies

DIE-HARD SEABLUE WITH RED AND OXBLOOD SPLATTERS limited to 150 copies

REGULAR BLACK VINYL limited to 700 copies

DESECRATION “Dead… yet, not forgotten” 4xCD + 1xDVD Boxset

Over 4 years in the making, here comes another milestone of stubbornness and dedication to the true underground roots put together by your beloved F.O.A.D. psychos! Pioneering Death/Thrash Metal in the best Bay Area tradition delivered by maniacs that lived the very core of the early Californian Thrash scene and roadied for Possessed and Slayer tours! 4 x CDs, 86 songs in over four hours of neck-breaking devastation including all the existing demo recordings, loads of unreleased tunes and live cuts all taken from Bob Yost’s personal collection (mint 1st generation sources) restored and mastered with obsessive dedication to deliver you the best possible sonic mayhem! This ultra exhaustive discography shows the band through its different stages of evolution: from the early line-up that occasionally featured Mike Sus (Possessed) on drums, mostly leaning toward a primordial brand of raw blackened Death Metal – think of early Death and Possessed, to the latter 2nd line-up moving to total mind blowing Thrash oozing the strong Crossover/HC influence that invaded the Californian scene of that time thanks to bands like Attitude Adjustment, Cryptic Slaughter, D.R.I. and tons more. This monsterwork also features an extra CD compiling all Bob Yost’s other bands from 1988 to 1991, among which you get POSSESSED with their devastating Demo 1991 + 10 unreleased tracks with that special line-up, and a radio interview. And believe it or not it’s hands down some of the fastest and rawest POSSESSED material ever heard! And there’s even more: a DVD tracing the history of the band through the years, including shows with Chris Reifert (Autopsy / Death) on drums and a rehearsal with Tim Howell of Sacrilege B.C.!

To cut it short, this has all the credentials to be considered a piece of Bay Area Metal history. The packaging consists of a 12 panel digipack including 2 ultra-thick booklets (75 pages filled with photos, flyers, liner-notes and lyrics) + an extra slipcase and OBI-card.  Fully authorized by every former member, this boxset is entirely dedicated in memory of the highly missed founding member Bob Yost.

POISON “Sons of evil” LP + booklet

Pure infernal armageddon, not for the weak!! One of the most deviated, disgusting and anti-musical Death Metal aberrations ever conceived. FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER ON VINYL IN ITS MOST COMPLETE VERSION exactly as the cassette version that was circulating in the 80s! Originally released in 1984, “Sons of evil” is the first demo recording from the malevolent and sinister German entity known as Poison. This sounds so raw and extreme that even the band members took their time to decide whether to license a vinyl reissue or not, and the graal got unlocked only when after years of research through the most insane puritan collectors, we tracked a source whose quality was even “better” than the masters owned by the band and got it properly restored and mastered by our wizard H.O.D. at Toxic Basement Studio.

So one thing is sure: this LP is the matchless, best sounding version of “Sons of evil” you can dream about.  Now quoting what has been said already about this gem: as primitive and barbaric as a Stone Age gang-rape, this tape is possessed by total darkness and evil. This evokes the kind of hellish feeling that Venom feared to toy with and that Hellhammer simply was not capable of conjuring up. Musically, this runs the gamut from morbidly mid-paced to intense and somewhat insane. It bears no real similarities to any of their German counterparts, such as Sodom, Destruction or Kreator. The slower parts sound very reminiscent of Hellhammer, with one very important exception: this is darker and more evil than Mr. Warrior and his cohorts ever could have hoped to be. The vocals of Virgin Slaughter are exactly what Tom should have been doing on releases such as “Satanic Rites“. Possessed and maniacal, at times, his demonic voice actually accentuates the dark mood of the music, rather than detracting from it. As for the rest of the songwriting, this is like a war on the senses. Primitive and violent in nature, the riffs saw through you while the drums pound your skull into oblivion. It is almost difficult to believe something so bestial and grotesque existed back in 1984. The sound is on the same level as the “Death By Metal” demo, from Mantas, and makes the old Venom and Bathory records seem like they were done in high-dollar facilities.

Sons of Evil” is a monstrous offering from a band that had truly tapped into something dark and aggressive. This is what Hellhammer should have been striving for.  Includes a booklet printed on old school fanzine styled light blue paper, with rare photos, flyers and excerpts from zines/mags of that era. If you’re like us a devoted follower of www.shit-fi.com you will definitely agree that this demo deserves a special mention there!
