FOAD’s summer starts with a Japanese Metal/Punk blast! As previously announced, our schedule for this month consists of 4 releases from the land of the Rising Sun: the most awaited one, BORIS “No” LP + flexi was sold out on preorder in less than 24 hours! Of the other three – ROSENFELDDemo 1991” (2nd edition) LP, SARUSHIBAI / MANBIKI CHOCOLATE Split LP and MILITARY SHADOWViolent reign” LP – the diehard colored vinyl versions are all gone, we still have very few copies left of the black ones (all of them on 180 gram vinyl) so we strongly suggest you to act fast if you have not yet secured them to your collection! As you can imagine, the queue of packages to ship is endless, part of them have been mailed already, the rest will be all sent within the next 2 weeks.  Please be patient and wait for your order to be processed and updated with its tracking number.  We are working hard to get everything mailed as quickly as possible.  For any enquiries, don’t hesitate to write us, but once again – be patient and everything will come to its place. Also, keep in mind that in conjunction with these records we’re also shipping the official HUMAN GAS merch: 2 different tshirt designs and a hooded sweatshirt. There aren’t many left, this is a limited series that won’t be re-printed later.

More in detail about the still available releases:

ROSENFELD “Demo 1991” LP – 2nd edition (F.O.A.D. 219)

2nd pressing with different colors on the cover, OBI strip and silkscreened art on the LP.
Osaka Power thrashin’ inferno! Often wrongly credited as Demo 1993 this is the 1991 studio Demo by Osaka’s Speed/Thrash legends ROSENFELD, prior to their full length “Pigs of the empire”. What you get here is a piece of history in Japanese Metal, just to give you an idea of the cult status around this band, their frontman Hisayoshi sung on AION‘s monolithic “Deathrash Bound” album!  Also important to mention is that in 35 years of existence this is their first ever vinyl release, not even a single track of theirs has been pressed on vinyl up to now. A good reason for giving it a top quality F.O.A.D. treatment… taken from the band’s mastertape and delivered on 180 gram vinyl for the best sonic impact, you know what to expect. Fast, powerful and extremely intense, ROSENFELD‘s style is a splendid burst of memorable riffs, hyper-tight drumming and high pitched screams that can easily compete with some ’80s international titans of the Thrash gotha. Comes with OBI strip and a full colored booklet with loads of rare photos and flyers!  Watch the trailer HERE

Solid black vinyl (180 grams) with blue silkscreened print on B-side limited to 300 copies

SARUSHIBAI / MANBIKI CHOCOLATE Split LP (F.O.A.D. 237)

A crucial Japanese Hardcore Punk clash!! Brand new studio tracks from both bands..  猿芝居 (SARUSHIBAI) from Gunma deliver a highly intense and original blend of straightforward HC meets dark ’80s Punk embedded in a rocking vein, at times reminding the intricate approach of some cult ADK Records bands – Kikeji, Glycerin and Masturbation just to mention those that instantly pop up to mind listening to this. Utsunomiya’s Hardcore veterans 万引チョコレイト (MANBIKI CHOCOLATE) strike again with 5 new incendiary thrashing Hardcore rippers.. powerful, raging and totally catchy! If you’re new to this incredible band, they have been active since over 30 years starting the game with a legendary 8″ flexi disc (1990) and a couple of tapes now hardly sought after by the most diehard collectors, and later releasing a few CD’s and a discography LP collecting their recordings from 1990 to 2000.  Traditional Japanese Hardcore with all the best features of this style: furious vocals, fast ‘n’ tight drumming and memorable riffs and solos with a metallic imprint… This new studio session proves that they never let down and just get better with time!  LP with OBI strip and insert. Watch the trailer HERE

Solid black vinyl (180 grams) limited to 200 copies

MILITARY SHADOW  “Violent reign” LP  (F.O.A.D. 233)

The return of the Metal/Punk iron fist! 6 brand new tracks from one of the most promising revelations in the current day Japanese underground inferno, a merciless armageddon made of scorching riffage and solos, vitriolic vocals all grinded into a venomous encounter between ’80s Speed Metal and Japanese Hardcore. As we previously described them: “A vicious orgy of metallic Hardcore savagery exploding through incendiary riffs, epic GISM-flavored solos and rabid vocals. A must have for fans of GISM, ZOUO, THE SEXUAL, G.A.T.E.S. and PARASITE!”  One sided LP with insert and bonus postcard. Watch the trailer HERE

New F.O.A.D. preorders, and for the umpteenth time a month entirely focused on Japanese Metal/Punk/Noise bands! Those of you who’ve got the “Legend of Kansai Hardcore” book that we’ve recently published have certainly noticed that there’s an entire appendix dedicated to the many Japanese releases that we’ve done through the years, and as promised this is a path that will keep going strong forever. So here’s another apocalyptic four to be added to that hellish circle, this time we’re starting from an absolute myth – BORIS, with a special edition of their latest effort, “NO” – which is undoubtedly their punkiest album to date, then at popular demand a new edition of ROSENFELD‘s “Demo 1991” LP with different colors (the previous got instantly sold out on preorder) and then digging deeper underground, a little big gem of traditional Japanese Hardcore Punk, the split between SARUSHIBAI and MANBIKI CHOCOLATE, and the new effort by Tokyo’s Metal/Punk maniacs MILITARY SHADOW! So, to sum it all up: BORISNO” LP / Picture LP + flexi disc, ROSENFELDDemo 1991” (2nd edition) LP, SARUSHIBAI / MANBIKI CHOCOLATE Split LP and MILITARY SHADOWViolent reign” LP are all available on preorder!

But wait, there’s more:  we had something else in the pipeline for some time and we thought this was the best month to combine it with… HUMAN GAS official merchandising! We’re honored to announce that F.O.A.D. Records has taken care to print 2 different t-shirt design and a limited hooded sweatshirt for this legendary Hokkaido Hardcore horde and they’re up for preorders in conjunction with the previously mentioned vinyl releases. As always we strongly recommend you to act fast, especially if you want to catch the diehard colored vinyl versions, that are expected to sell out in few days!

More in detail about each release:

BORIS “No” LP / Picture LP + flexi disc (F.O.A.D. 234)

The most Hardcore-infused BORIS album to date, their 26th full length recorded in self-isolation due to the pandemic. This is how BORIS themselves describe the mood behind this album: “A mirror that gathers and reflects people’s negative energy at a different angle, one that is positive. That is the power and potential of the dark, extreme, and brutal noise music that we have experienced up to this point“. Previously released in Japan only by Blood Sucker Records on CD and LP (both versions already sold out and getting pricey on Discogs or elsewhere), this exclusive F.O.A.D. edition is the first internationally distributed and it adds a bonus flexi disc with an unreleased version of the band’s cover of “Fundamental Error” by GUDON, featuring Guy (ORIGIN OF M, ex-GUDON) on bass!!

To sum it all up: “NO” balances a respect for Japanese hardcore tradition with uncompromising idiosyncrasy, resulting in one of the most brazen and punishing Boris albums to date. The whole album keeps a nervous pace where their familiar sludgy doom atmospheres – that they always deliver with unmatched apocalyptic heaviness – give way to roaring Hardcore bursts in a perfectly flowing crescendo.  Watch the trailer HERE

Ci siamo!

Vinile trasparente fumé (180 grammi) limitato a 200 copie

SKRUIGNERS “Finalmente vi odio davvero” LP (F.O.A.D. 223)

Vinile marmorizzato bianco/blu (180 grammi) limitato a 200 copie

Edizione diehard in vinile bronzo (180 grammi) limitata a 100 copie

Vinile nero (180 grammi) limitato a 200 copie

Here we are, our May releases have just been delivered by the pressing plant and we are ready to ship.  As already announced, this month is all dedicated to Italian Hardcore with two LP’s by SKRUIGNERS, respectively “Grazie di tutto” (1999) and “Finalmente vi odio davvero” (2001) both appearing for the very first time on vinyl, plus the total discography of BLAXFEMA, a raging HC unit from the mid ’80s formed by members of Wrong Boys. The most limited versions of the two SKRUIGNERS records are already sold out on preorder, we’ve still got a few of those ltd. to 200 (splatter blue/white and smokey clear) so hurry up if you want to catch them before they’re gone forever.  Part of the orders have been sent already, the remaining ones will be all shipped in the incoming week.

SKRUIGNERS “Grazie di tutto” LP (F.O.A.D. 222)

An unmatched 90’s Italian Hardcore classic for the first time on vinyl!  Formed in 1996 not far from Milano, SKRUIGNERS have somehow slipped under the radar not being much recognized by the international HC community, although at the same time in Italy through their 15-year career they have always packed all kind of venues and squats with hundreds of punks stagediving and singing along each of their anthems word by word. Their style takes the renewed adrenalinic approach of the best contemporary HC of their time (above Torino’s bands like early Crunch, Belli-Cosi and Arturo) also paying attention to the ’80s school of pioneering legends like Declino, Impact, Crash Box etc.. evolving it with a personal touch – at times spiced up with a Punk Rock vibe, yet keeping it always fast, young and rageful.  “Grazie di tutto” is their second full length, recorded in 1999 and originally published on CD only by Tube Records. Here you get it for the first time on LP (180 grams), specially mastered for vinyl for the most powerful sonic impact, coming with a booklet that includes lyrics and photos of that time. Watch the trailer HERE

Smokey clear vinyl (180 grams) limited to 200

SKRUIGNERS “Finalmente vi odio davvero” LP (F.O.A.D. 223)

The band’s iconic third full length for the first time on vinyl!  18 songs of rapid, no frills Italian Hardcore – the album that consolidated their style based on energy, sincerity, rage, and estabilished them as one of the Italian HC acts with the largest fanbase in their country. Evolving the formula adopted on previous works, “Finalmente vi odio davvero” (2001) combines the best of ’90s Hardcore (think of early Crunch and Arturo) with the roots coming from furious Italian HC pioneers (as a matter of fact here you’ll also find a cover of DECLINO‘s “Mortale tristezza“).  Even if they never reached the deserved recognition abroad, each track on this record is a memory of completely sold out venues and bloody pits of punks stagediving and singin’ along.  Pressed on 180 gram vinyl, specially mastered for the most powerful sonic impact, including a booklet with lyrics and photos of that time.  Watch the trailer HERE

Marble blue/white vinyl (180 grams) limited to 200

BLAXFEMA “Urla di dolore 1984-1986” LP+CD (F.O.A.D. 229)

Another incredible Italian Hardcore gem from the “furious years” not to be missed… Founded in fall 1984 on the ashes of WRONG BOYS (that have also been reissued on F.O.A.D. recently), BLAXFEMA continued along the same path delivering fast, angry and political Hardcore. This complete discography includes their classic “Menes” Demotape 1985 straight from the reels and a never-heard-before soundboard live/rehearsal that shows them at the top of their game!!  24 TRACKS of sincere, crucial Hardcore recommended if you also like INFEZIONE, DECLINO, IMPACT and early European thrashing HC in general.  Pressed on 180 gram vinyl, comes with a full colored photo insert and a fanzine styled booklet with liner notes, rare flyers, scans of the original tapes, Virus related press pages, extra artworks and a lot more!! Watch the trailer HERE

Available in the following versions:

Diehard bronze vinyl (180 grams) limited to 100 copies

Solid black vinyl (180 grams) limited to 200 copies

This is a very special month for F.O.A.D. Records, because the main release that we are going to present is a book, a kind of item that isn’t that frequent in the line of releases of a record label… Years ago we published “Dritti contro un muro” – the definitive book on the history of Italian Hardcore/Punk in the ’80s, now we’re back on a similar experiment… What we are going to introduce now is a book documenting the history of Hardcore in a specific area of Japan, the Kansai region. The development of this project required enormous efforts and above all in many cases it meant finding ourselves slammed doors in our face by many people we asked for help in translating. But at the end, due to a really lucky situation, our paths crossed with an old friend who has lived in Tokyo for a long time, married to a Japanese girl, and from him the input and the opportunity to complete this project was reborn! Finally we are happy to announce that the English version of “THE LEGEND OF KANSAI HARDCORE” is ready!! Written by Ishiya of DEATH SIDE and FORWARD in collaboration with Shintani of RAPES, this book is a unique report about the scene that gave birth to legendary bands such as ZOUO, S.O.B., OUTO, RAPES, WARHEAD, NIGHTMARE, MOBS and many more. The book is packed with interviews, rare photos (in stunning quality, full coloured) and at the end you’ll find an extra section all dedicated to the many Japanese Hardcore / Punk / Metal releases on F.O.A.D. Records. And to make it even more outstanding, we have prepared a limited hard-bound cover version with an incredible bonus: a ZOUO / RAPES split flexi disc with unreleased recordings of both bands… ZOUO’s rare track “731” is not appearing on the recent “Agony remains” discography on Relapse!

In conjunction with this, it made sense to release more themed material, so we picked two Japanese bands that we had in our pipeline for some time, both are classic ’80s-’90s Shizuoka Hardcore ragers and both feature a Japanese legend in HC drumming: Akiyama. We’re talking about The RUSTLER and SWINDLE BITCH, of which we’re glad to present total discographies for the first time on vinyl. And to complete another deadly race of F.O.A.D. releases that will hardly be forgotten, we’re moving to the UK to introduce The UNDESIRABLES, a new Hardcore beast seeing the joint venture of two iconic characters that wrote the history of British Punk: TEZZ (Discharge, Broken Bones, Battalion Of Saints and more) & RAT (Varukers, Discharge, The Vile and more)!! So to sum it all up: “THE LEGEND OF KANSAI HARDCORE” – Book (diehard edition with ZOUO / RAPES flexi disc!!), THE RUSTLER1988-1994” gatefold 2xLP, SWINDLE BITCHLonely wolf like a storm – Complete Swindle Bitch 1993-1995” LP and THE UNDESIRABLES “s/t” LP on F.O.A.D. Records are all available on preorder. It goes without saying that the limited versions of these releases will not last long, as we’ve already got hundreds of requests, so we strongly advise you to act fast if you want to secure them to your collection!  Planned release date: April 22, 2021!

The RUSTLER “1988-1994” gatefold LP (F.O.A.D. 225)

Another Japanese Hardcore gem on F.O.A.D. Records! Ultrafast, raging, powerful – three words to describe the overall feeling that we get approaching to any of the legendary names spawned by the Shizuoka HC scene. And with no doubt, The RUSTLER were one of the best representatives from there. Here you get their complete discography 1988-1994 consisting of their debut flexi disc, split 7″s with So What and Swindle Bitch, songs from “Shizuoka City Hardcore” and “Who’s chained up to the dogs of outrage!!” compilations and additional rare tracks never released on vinyl until now. 34 songs of uncompromised anger and speed, featuring Akiyama on drums (also in SWINDLE BITCH, ZAMZA, FORWARD and many more). This anthology shows the band’s progression from the early proto-blasting thrash assault of their s/t 10 song flexi disc, not far from the style of Deadless Muss (in their second phase) and early S.O.B., to a more traditional Japanese Hardcore approach. Double LP with gatefold jacket, OBI strip and 20 page booklet including a wide selection of rare photos, gig flyers and scans of the original releases. Watch the trailer HERE
