Even if, for obvious reasons, this year we won’t be spending our summer thrashin’ hard at festivals all around Europe as we usually do, we’re glad to keep the FOAD Records‘ schedule busy with an unstoppable parade of old school gems on vinyl.  As previously revealed, July is all dedicated to Canada and we’re delivering two insane bands – one rooted in the ’80s Speed/Thrash Metal scene, and the other belonging to the ’90s Death Metal one.  We’re honored to announce that AGGRESSION “From the frozen vaults 1984-1986” gatefold LP+CD, NOVEMBER GRIEF “Evil-ution” LP and NOVEMBER GRIEF “To live… in this world of chaos” LP are all out now on FOAD Records, and most preorders have been shipped already, the last batch will be mailed in the next days.  There aren’t many copies left of the ltd. editions on colored vinyl, so if you still haven’t secured them to your collection, don’t sleep on them! There won’t be any FOAD releases in August but fasten your seat belts because we have a massive amount of heavy artillery all set for September, expect some groundbreaking announcements soon!

AGGRESSION “From the frozen vaults 1984-1986” gatefold LP+CD (F.O.A.D. 176)

Canadian Speed/Thrash at its finest! Long time in the works, this retrospective of early AGGRESSION recordings (1984-1986) collects all their demos and promo-tapes released before their debut album “The full treatment“, and adds a bonus CD with a complete, good sounding live set recorded in Quebec, 2/2/1986. Quoting the liner notes by Denis ‘Sasquatch’ included in this anthology: “Five metalheads playing their hearts out without any musical boundaries or restrictions. We were able to do whatever we wanted. And not only musically, we had no rules with an absolute disrespect for laws and society which got us in trouble quite a few times.”

Right there in those magical years when bands like Voivod, Razor, Sacrifice, Piledriver were starting to pave the way and Canada was hosting a titanic Metal event such as the World War III Festival, AGGRESSION were spawning their early Thrashing outrages proving to be equally intense and powerful as the previously mentioned pioneers. Released in conjunction with the vinyl reissue of their other demo, “To live.. in this world of chaos“, “Evil-ution” (1994) was the debut recording of this all-female Death Metal horde from Montreal, Canada, founded in 1993. 7 songs + outro of the most putrid, sickening Death Metal you can picture in your mind. They quote influences like Grave, Bolt Thrower, Immolation, Autopsy, Demigod, Incantation, but on this demo they also tend to lean towards grinding territories or slow down to the most anguished bowel-stenching Doom obscurity.

NOVEMBER GRIEF “To live… in this world of chaos” LP  (F.O.A.D. 204)

The band’s second demo and hands down their most brutal and aggressive offering, released in conjunction with their debut “Evil-lution” (1994). One of the earliest all-female Death Metal bands together with Derketa and Mythic. “To live… in this world of chaos” (1997) originally came out on tape, now sold at insane prices and very hard to find, and was later only reissued on CD ltd. to 200 copies. This vinyl version is remastered from the best sounding source in existence and adds 1 studio track taken from the “Awakening – Females In Extreme Music” compilation CD (1997). 9 songs + intro, if “Evil-ution” had all the bases a band needs to deliver the fiercest and most rotting Death Metal the way it has to be, “To live…” nails NG’s style into a deafening storm of darkness and merciless ferocity.  Abyssal atmospheres that range from downtuned doomish horror reminescent of Incantation moving to faster, blasting outbreaks that leave deadly wounds.

Although the band never went further, they remain an important band in the history of Quebec Death Metal, and as already mentioned, one of the first ever all-female Extreme metal bands. This classic Demo had to be brought back to life getting the proper F.O.A.D. treatment, just like “Evil-ution” this is another hidden gem of Canadian necro-underground that needs to be exhumed and raised on the altar of Death. Summer begins to hit hard and the heat in our warehouses is turning suffocating, which means that we have to recreate the atmosphere with some equally incendiary releases, to share the hellish dimension we’re sinking in. It’s not our style to get to the out-now date of new releases having not yet shipped the preorders, unfortunately in this case we even had to postpone the date of 1 week, due to a series of delays and negligence from the pressing plant… Finally, we have received the last parts missing today (June 29) so from now we’ll start to send everything as quickly as possible. “Misantropo a senso unico” – Italy’s most classic Grindcore album ever – turns 20 and gets celebrated with a top notch deluxe edition enriched with a lot of extra contents. Originally released in 2000, CB‘s 2nd full length is an incredible outburst of hyperfast hate-fueled Grind rooted in the most furious and violent 80’s Italian Hardcore. 16 songs of manic speed scream-out-lungs hatred at its most nihilistic form, the band’s absolute manifesto. UK’s Terrorizer Mag quoted it as nr. 6 of the most essential Grindcore albums of all times. Ultra-raw, primordial Black Metal Punk from the frozen Alps! Enter the obscure myth of Pentacolar, a mysterious entity delivering some of the filthiest, visionary Metal/Punk ever conceived in Italy…  a unique case of radical isolationism completely stuck in a ’80s time-machine that never reached the internet era… even in his most recent recordings, all things are made as if the clock hand stopped in 1988: same instruments and recording equipment of when he started. No emails or social networks – all the communication for this release has been carried out via telephone calls, hand written letters and of course masters on audio cassettes. Musically, SAGATRAKAVASHEN sounds like an archaic mix of ancient Black Metal a la Venom, Bathory, Hellhammer with some HM incursions (think of early Death SS and Wratchild – of which you’ll also find a cover) all tied up by strong DIY ethics and a Hardcore imprint rooted in the Italian school of bands like Wretched, Eu’s Arse, Dioxina and so on.

This anthology collects the band’s complete discography 1988-2018 consisting of:

Back with a vengeance!  It’s quite evident that many independent record labels are going through extremely hard times these days, in our case one of the most difficult since it all started. For years you’ve seen our stand/booth at shows, festivals, record fairs, guess how long this won’t happen… but looking at things through a positive eye, even in the most restrictive days of lockdown and isolation, F.O.A.D. never stopped, our mailorder has been active doing packages and shipping orders all around, and we want to thank all those who have supported us keeping us busy and on-point. We’ve been forced to stop our production for April, we couldn’t even drive to the pressing plant to pick up the records… but this captivity has only encouraged us to work as hard as possible and contact more and more bands for an endless string of future releases! And now we’re ready to blast back with new releases, and to give an even stronger sense to our restart we’re doing it with the most iconic records of two bands that have meant a lot to F.O.A.D. through the years: RAW POWER with their ageless classic “Screams from the gutter” and CRIPPLE BASTARDS with the hate-grind milestone “Misantropo a senso unico“. These albums are respectively celebrating their 35th and 20th anniversary, so we took the chance to bring them back to light with some maniac deluxe editions that are giving respect to what they represent to us and to many fans worldwide.

But wait there’s more: we had another sick Italian release in the pipeline and decided that it would have been cool to add it to the two above-mentioned monsters. With this we’re going way more underground, straight in the heart of the Alps Mountains in a small village lost in the middle of nowhere where a sinister entity spawned one of the rawest and most barbaric Black Metal Punk outbursts you can think of… SAGATRAKAVASHEN, of which we’re honored to present a total discography 2xLP called “Saga of darkness: 1988-2018“. F.O.A.D. Records keeps up the unbreakable legacy with Italy’s absolute Hardcore heroes RAW POWER giving to their most classic album “Screams from the gutter” a proper deluxe edition to consecrate its 35th anniversary, a total quality-care version that makes justice to this timeless Hardcore milestone! Many of you will agree that this is the finest Italian HC offering ever made and easily one of the 10 world’s best Hardcore records of the 80’s… over 40.000 copies sold and still sounding fresh and up-to-date even when compared to modern HC standards. F.O.A.D.‘s treatment for this all time colossus consists of a thick glossy gatefold sleeve featuring lyrics and rare/unreleased photos and flyers, a square A2 replica of their cult gig-poster with Cro-Mags and Motörhead + a scrupolous mastering that respects in detail the original reels sound leaving full breathe and dynamics to its original impact and (raw) power!

It’s a difficult comparison with their other early output – “You Are The Victim” and the excellent material released by BCT – but after all “Screams From The Gutter” marks RAW POWER‘s peak due to its superior production. The band’s simple yet instantly memorable riffs bring to mind Black Flag, Circle Jerks but also earlier groups like the Who, AC/DC, and of course, the Stooges. CRIPPLE BASTARDS “Misantropo a senso unico” gatefold LP+CD+7″ and Digipack 2xCD  (F.O.A.D. 188)

“Misantropo a senso unico” – Italy’s most classic Grindcore album ever – turns 20 and gets celebrated with a top notch deluxe edition enriched with a lot of extra contents. Originally released in 2000, CB‘s 2nd full length is an incredible outburst of hyperfast hate-fueled Grind rooted in the most furious and violent 80’s Italian Hardcore. 16 songs of manic speed scream-out-lungs hatred at its most nihilistic form, the band’s absolute manifesto. UK’s Terrorizer Mag quoted it as nr. 6 of the most essential Grindcore albums of all times. S.O.D. / Brutal Truth / Hemlock / Anthrax / Nuclear Assault bassist Dan Lilker about this album: “Exquisitely insane hardcore grind that reminds me of why I got into all this shit back in the late Eighties”.
