Watch out, 2 x new FOAD sonic nightmares are finally out and ready to ship!! NAPALM1984-1986” casewrapped LP and SCHIZOBefore the collapse 1985-1987” Gatefold LP+7″+CD have just been delivered to our headquarters and as expected they sound and look killer! Most preorders have been sent already, the last batch will be mailed in the next few days. Note: NAPALM “1984-1986” die-hard edition has been sold out in less than 1 day, some copies will be available in Japan at Record Shop Base, Record Boy, Record Shop Answer and a few more, so there’s still a chance to get it (this mostly referred to our Japanese customers that have been asking about it). SCHIZO‘s limited edition on splatter vinyl is also going quickly, so act fast if you still want to catch it via scareystore.com

More details about each release:

NAPALM “1984-1986” casewrapped LP (F.O.A.D. 102)

Hailing from Sapporo City, Japan, NAPALM stands as one of the oldest and rawest Hardcore bands ever spawned from that area. For the times they started they were incredibly fast, furious and aggressive. For us at FOAD this is a typical case of undiscovered HC treasure and we are honoured to make it available on vinyl for the very first time, in a super deluxe edition with hardbound case-wrapped cover (taking inspiration from the legendary Selfish Records LPs!), extra OBI strip and insert loaded with photos, original cassette artworks and liner notes.

They used to describe themselves as “JAPANESE AUTHENTIC HARDCORE PUNK“, their sound was an insanely distorted yet powerful wall of noisy HC.. even if from a different area – they can remind stuff like KURO, GAI, L.S.D. and 1982-84 era THE COMES. Straight from the record’s insert: the band sprinkled the noise and speed of angry Hardcore waves starting in 1983 and becoming one of the earliest Hardcore Punk bands that came from Sapporo City. They were active until 1986. As reported on a previous cassette version: “The live tracks included here were recorded at a show they played, on that show the crowd was so frightened and paralized by fear that one person fainted, so those tracks can be considered NAPALM’s “masterpiece” and memories.

This LP collects all the band’s existing recordings starting from the classic “Detestable deed” demo (all songs are included here except a spoken outro at the end of A-side on the cassette), the ultra-rare “Sapporo Punk Omnibus” comp. trax and the above mentioned live footage!

BLACK VINYL limited to 300 copies

SCHIZO “Before the collapse – the complete recollection 1985-1987” gatefold LP+7″+CD (F.O.A.D. 101)

Years and years in the making (more than 5!), here it finally comes.. the most exhaustive SCHIZO demo collection you can dream about. One LP, one 7″ and one CD all in one package, housed in a thick gatefold sleeve with a poster-sized foldout insert full of rare photos and ‘zine excerpts… a true work of heart just like every FOAD release! This collection compiles all the band’s recordings before their killer “Main frame collapse” debut full length (1989), 20 songs of what was with no doubt one of the most deranged, fast and original Extreme Metal acts in the 80s Italian panorama. If you also count in the early stuff by their brothers-in-mayhem Necrodeath, these were the first examples of hyper-speed driven thrashin’ Death Metal from Italy, that in more simple words equals “the first blast beats to ever land on the Italian Metal territories“. Here you get their complete “T.T.U.T.T.K. [Thrash The Unthrashable – Thrash To Kill]” – Demo 1985, “TOTAL SCHIZOPHRENIA” – Demo 1986, “M.F.C. [Main Frame Collapse Demo]” – 1987 and as bonus an ultra obscure “Private rehearsal tape – May 31, 1985” with completely unreleased tracks!

All these treasures mastered from the best sounding 1st generation sources provided and approved by the band.. This monsterwork portrays in the most effective way the band’s evolution from their nihilistic thrashing Hardcore roots to the sadistic nerve-ripping sonic torment of their cult “Total schizophrenia” Demo (mentioned by Max Cavalera as one of the reasons why they chose “Schizophrenia” as title for Sepultura’s 2nd masterpiece). Fans of ultra fast blasting Thrash a la Wehrmacht, early Sadus, Merciless, Sarcofago.. this is a must have!

DIE-HARD EDITION on aside/bside blue vs bone white splatter vinyl, limited to 100 copies

BLACK VINYL limited to 300 copies

REGURGITATION “Complete recordings 1986/1987” gatefold LP and MAJESTY “Bestial vomit + Demo II” LP are OUT NOW!!

Posted in Majesty, Regurgitation, Releases on March 25th, 2016 by foadmaster2022

So it’s March 25th and as previously announced here we are with 2 new FOAD sledgehammers of uncompromised sonic devastation… This time we’re going back to 1986/1987 with two cult demotapes that were on every respectable tape-trader’s list back in the day, but never made it to an official, quality centered re-issue on vinyl until now. REGURGITATION (pre-O.L.D.) “Complete recordings 1986/1987” gatefold LP + booklet and MAJESTYBestial Vomit + Demo II” LP + poster are both out now!! We are proud to say that ALL pre-orders have been already shipped and there are less than 10 copies left of the ltd. splatter versions of each, so if you still haven’t got them, this is the very last chance! And keep an eye on this site because our 2 next detonators set for April are equally legendary and sought after if we talk of rare, yet-to-be-unearthed treasures of the mid 80’s Hardcore/Metal blood-pit.

Now more in detail about REGURGITATION and MAJESTY..:

REGURGITATION “Complete recordings 1986/1987” gatefold LP (F.O.A.D. 098)

New Jersey’s REGURGITATION was James Plotkin (later in O.L.D., Khanate etc) first musical incarnation and a total cult in the late 80s tape-traders’ scene. Those of you who were familiar to O.L.D.‘s bone-crushing debut album “Old Lady Drivers” on Earache will probably remember that the front cover had a sticker reading..: “Insane Mega-Speed Thrash with crazy vocals. Highly original Hardcore from ex-members of REGURGITATION“. Well, this is that band and here you get their complete discography transfered from the original reels and mastered by the genius of James Plotkin himself. 13 songs of blasting super-fast Death/Thrashcore (or simply early day Grind) with those distinctive and caustic vocals that later became a trademark in O.L.D. Forget the shit-quality bootlegs you might have seen around before, this collection is hands down the ultimate most exhaustive and best sounding offering.

It collects the 2 Demos “Organic backwash” (1986) and “Bathrooms rule” (1987), “Pesticide” from “Speed Metal Hell Vol. 3” and some great soundboard live recordings. It comes in a thick gatefold sleeve including extensive liner notes by J. Plotkin, Jon “Metalion and a fanzine-styled booklet with photos, original tape artworks, rare flyers and ‘zine excerpts. If you enjoyed FOAD’s previous works of pioneering US Grind/Thrash speed monsters (Terrorizer, Cryptic Slaughter, Wehrmacht, Lethal Aggression) you can’t miss yet another classic of that kind!

Available in 2 different versions:

Die-hard edition on “acid reflux” yellow on green splatter vinyl, ltd. to 100 copies

Black vinyl, ltd. to 400 copies

==================

MAJESTY “Bestial Vomit + Demo II” LP + poster (F.O.A.D. 099)

1987, Los Angeles Death Metal at its rawest and darkest stage! MAJESTY was one of the earliest bands to feature Oscar Garcia (Terrorizer, Nausea), Carlos “Cosmo” Reveles (Terrorizer, Nausea) and Eric Castro (Nausea), basically it was the embryonic nightmare of what later bursted into LA’s most feared Grindcore unit: NAUSEA. Their cult demotape “Bestial Vomit” was hunted as a rare treasure among collectors and tape trading maniacs. Here you finally get it mastered from a copy coming directly from the band’s archives, with the addition of another session recorded few months later and posthumously considered their Demo #2 (by now only circulated via bad quality bootlegs). And there’s more, we also added a jam session featuring Majesty and Terrorizer together playing a Napalm Death cover + 1 extra track. In short this is the first official MAJESTY discography on vinyl and by far the best sounding and most complete one.

12 songs of gloomy, menacing Death Metal with the unique vocal approach of the Grindcore master Oscar Garcia and the insanely mosh-driving riffs that later made the sound of NAUSEA and TERRORIZER so original and influential on a worldwide scale. Matte coated sleeve includes unreleased artworks, a poster featuring a rare tshirt art and a J-card repro of the original “Bestial vomit” cover, so you can make your own copy on tape too! This release is the 3rd chapter in FOAD‘s legacy with the Nausea/Terrorizer family, after releasing Nausea’s “World struggle” and Terrorizer’s “Before the downfall” demo collection…

Available in 2 different versions:

Die-hard splatter vinyl (coke bottle green with white and black splatter) ltd. to 100 copies

Black vinyl, ltd. to 400 copies

Back to the GRIND! Those who are not entirely new to FOAD Records and to the typical style of our releases know that one of our greatest specialty is to unearth some of the most legendary Demotapes of the 80’s Hardcore/Metal inferno and bring them back to light in the best possible sounding quality, adding unreleased material and a huge variety of photos, flyers, scans from zines etc… So talking of cult stuff on tape, this month we picked two killer American Grind/Death bands that were on every respectable tape-trader’s list back in the day, but never made it to an official, quality centered re-issue until now. Let’s dive back in time… 1986/1987: pre-orders for REGURGITATION (pre-O.L.D.) “Complete recordings 1986/1987” gatefold LP + booklet and MAJESTYBestial Vomit + Demo II” LP + poster are up now!! The official release date for both is March 25, as usual act fast if you want to reserve the limited splatter vinyl mailorder editions! More in detail about each LP:

GRČ “Sloboda Narodu” LP, PAUL CHAIN VIOLET THEATRE  “Opera 4th” gatefold LP and PAUL CHAIN “Live a Cattolica 5.08.1988” LP are OUT NOW!!

Posted in GRČ, Paul Chain, Paul Chain Violet Theatre, Releases on March 2nd, 2016 by foadmaster2022

After being almost one week away with FOAD‘s stand at the ultra-sick Netherlands Death Fest we’re finally back and ready to announce that the 3 releases that we had announced a while back are finally here and ready to ship! So, GRČSloboda Narodu” LP, PAUL CHAIN VIOLET THEATREOpera 4th” gatefold LP and PAUL CHAINLive a Cattolica 5.08.1988” LP are out now!  Most pre-orders have been sent already, please be patient if you have ordered in the last week as we’re still catching up those that arrived since we left for NDF, and there are many. We still have a few copies on limited splatter vinyl for both GRČ and “Opera 4th“, so be fast if you want to get them!

More details about each release:

GRČ “Sloboda Narodu” LP  (F.O.A.D. 088)

Unsung heroes outside their country for us one of the greatest treasures that the Yugoslavian Rock scene spawned in the 80s, GRČ were formed back in 1982 in the early Punk/Dark/New Wave scene of Rijeka, Croatia. Their album “Sloboda Narodu” originally released in 1987 only on tape represents one of the most gloomy and hopeless expressions of negativity that whatever you may label as Dark, Death Rock or Post Punk has ever conceived. It transpires blood, secular blackness and distress at its purest form.  Their musical approach is a solid amalgamation of Doom tinged post-industrial Rock (think of early Swans and Young Gods) with uncompromised Dark Punk atmospheres. The incredible downtuned vocals of their ominous frontman Zoff consolidate a feeling of solemn black decadence that go hand in hand with wonderful lyrics, a desperate cry for freedom in a landscape of war, urban decay, social oppression.

With the opening track “Noćas se Beograd pali” (“Belgrade’s burning tonight”) they somehow predicted the bloody conflict that dismembered Yugoslavia few years later, and the mood is equally hopeless on the following “Blood is still running” or “Black gloves“.  The album also includes a musical trasposition of the 2WW poem “Jama” (“The pit”) by Ivan Goran Kovačić, one of the strongest and harshest examples of anti-war poetry ever written. By releasing this masterpiece for the first time on vinyl (as back then there were no funds to go beyond a limited run on cassette) we are proud of making justice to what we consider a completely undiscovered classic representing an area that has always been vital in terms of musical creativity. Today’s newcomers of Dark and DeathRock should take their hats off to a band like GRČ.

Remastered from the original 1/4″ reels, housed in a special rough reverse board jacket including a 8 page booklet with lyrics (also translated in English), rare photos and flyers.

AVAILABLE IN TWO DIFFERENT VERSIONS:

Die-hard edition on smokey grey vinyl (limited to 100 copies)

Black vinyl (limited to 200 copies)

==================

PAUL CHAIN VIOLET THEATRE  “Opera 4th”  gatefold LP + poster  (F.O.A.D. 090)

Official re-issue of this Psychedelic Doom Metal masterpiece originally released in 1987 and sold out (on vinyl) for almost 3 decades. This high quality edition has been entirely remastered and comes in a full glossy gatefold cover also including a two-sided A3 poster with the creepy “Death devours men and beasts” art + two poems written by Giancarlo Bolther. Paul Chain started out in the horror-shock band Death SS in 1977, a band that combined evil occult Metal and theatrics. In 1979 he formed Paul Chain Violet Theatre while he was still in Death SS. He later (1984 to be precise) left Death SS to concentrate on Paul Chain Violet Theatre, shortening the name to Paul Chain in 1987.  The various Paul Chain incarnations released a large number of albums ranging from Traditional Doom (often coming close to very early Black Sabbath) to more experimental music, and gained massive underground fame in doing so. Amongst others, he has worked with Lee Dorrian (Cathedral) and Wino (St Vitus).  “Opera 4th” is an apocalyptic journey into the most deviated realms of this genius’ creativity.

It starts with the 30 minute long experimental madness of “Our Solitude (Birth, Life, Death)” a space-doom nightmare dragging the soul into a cryptic universe of psychedelic synths and vocal echoes. The 3 songs on Side B bring us back to a solid, Sabbath-tinged (doomish) Metal approach that at times recalls Paul’s early steps with Death SS and at times develop into ’70s rock strangeness, like the closing “Resurrection In Christ“. All in all, Paul Chain is a musical genius and anybody into Traditional Doom and Metal in all its forms should check out his work.

AVAILABLE IN TWO DIFFERENT VERSIONS:

Die-hard edition on color-in-color electric blue vs aqua blue vinyl (limited to 100 copies)

Black vinyl (limited to 400 copies)

==================

PAUL CHAIN “Live a Cattolica 5.08.1988” LP

Limited edition of 300 copies on purple funeral vinyl. Ultra rare and never-heard-to-date live recording resurrected from the archives of Marco/EVERSOR that booked the show (known as “Metal Devastation: Live!“) at the time. This incredible performance offers us P.C. at one of the peaks of his unmatched talent, backed by a legendary line-up with even Sanctis Ghoram of DEATH SS singing on 3 songs.

After a sinister intro, this incredible set bursts through songs taken from “Ash“, “In the darkness” to the classic “Inquisitor” from DEATH SS‘ “Evil Metal” EP and as icing on the cake delivers 2 completely unreleased ones that never made it on any studio album.  Hands down one of the most enjoyable live recordings in the entire PAUL CHAIN discography, the sound has that typical raw and intense feel of many 80s Metal recordings, and it has been specially mastered for vinyl at Toxic Basement Studio, for the best possible sonic impact. Includes rare photos, the original flyer of the show and a detailed liner note written by the Italian fan club of this genius!

February here is usually one the most gray and depressing times of the year and for this reason we have decided to concentrate on this month not 2 but 3 of our darkest, doom-soaked releases to date.
