This month is truly pure insanity, there’s so much boiling in the pot that we won’t stay too long in this introduction or we’ll never finish. 7 titles in one month-an all-time record for F.O.A.D.!  And among them the real highlight is the long awaited English version of Ishiya’s book “SHIZUOKA HARDCORE”, a real gem for fans of Japanese hardcore, which digs deep into the roots history and scene past and contemporary of Shizuoka – the city at the foot of Mt. Fuji and one of the most active and fervent punk realities of our beloved Land Of The Rising Sun.  The hard cover version of this book contains as a bonus a fantastic 7 “EP by SO WHAT with 4 newly recorded tracks, incendiary and furious hardcore in their classic trademark.  Along with this incredible book we have 4 more Japanese Hardcore Thrash vinyl threats: again from Shizuoka INNOCENTS “Noisy trouble – Complete discography 1987-1991” gatefold 2xLP, moving more to aggressive and manic thrash territories DISGRACE “Break confusion – Complete Disgrace 1987” LP+CD, jumping on the contemporary HC scene GAIDO “This is the answer” LP and going back to the glorious 90’s, from Osaka we have HOLOCAUST “90’s mind in your minds” LP… but wait there’s more!

To keep the Italy-Japan connection strong, you should know that in the coming months on tour in Japan will be first CRIPPLE BASTARDS (April) and then RAW POWER (May), consequently we thought we’d celebrate it with a special version of CRIPPLE BASTARDS “Variante alla morte” CD (limited Japanese tour edition with OBI strip and 24 bonus tracks) and with the 40th anniversary edition for RAW POWER‘s timeless classic, “Screams from the gutter” – again available in gatefold LP with a beautiful purple splatter variant, and in digipack CD.

So, to sum it all up for you:  SHIZUOKA HARDCORE book (with bonus SO WHAT 7″), INNOCENTS “Noisy trouble – Complete discography 1987-1991” 2xLP, DISGRACE “Break confusion – Complete Disgrace 1987” LP+CD, GAIDO “This is the answer” LP, HOLOCAUST “90’s mind in your minds” LP, RAW POWER “Screams from the gutter” gatefold LP and digipack CD and CRIPPLE BASTARDS “Variante alla morte” Japanese tour ltd. CD.. preorders start NOW!!  As always we have prepared ltd. discounted bundles for those who want to buy the 5 Japanese releases all together in their diehard editions and an ultra-discounted bundle for those who want to grab our previous “THE LEGEND OF KANSAI HARDCORE” together with the new “SHIZUOKA HARDCORE”.  And now for the usual boring recommendations: if you want to grab the diehard (splatter/colored etc.) versions of these releases don’t sleep on them too much because as seen last month they run out in no time, and please don’t bombard us with unnecessary requests such as additions or changes of items in the orders, changes of address, variations of any kind… these are all things that bring us stress and slow down the smooth flow and speed of our way of working.  And a final little suggestion: if you are in Japan in April, don’t miss the Gekiko Fest in Tokyo-Yokohama with Cripple Bastards, Death Side, S.O.B., Slang, Forward, So What, Coffins, Warhead, Systematic Death and many others… and the week after an even more special event, the second edition of “F.O.A.D. Attacks Yokohama” festival with a stellar bill: Illya, Bound, Vulgarity Kids!, Manbiki Chocolate, Uroko, Carcass Grinder, Gaido and more!! In a nutshell, in April Japan and F.O.A.D. will be ablaze with the most explosive hardcore inferno!

And now here we are with the detailed descriptions of this month’s magnificent seven:

DISGRACE “Break confusion – Complete Disgrace 1987” LP+CD

Bloody fast thrashcore assault from Tokyo! A venomous mix of the most aggressive 80’s thrash (Kreator, Sadus, Slayer) blended with the anger and tightness of that era’s Japanese hardcore. Complete recordings including both demotapes (1987) sourced from the band’s mastertapes. For us, their demo “Break confusion” stands as one of the most aggressive and representative demos from the bottomless pit of obscure Japanese underground gems released only on cassette, which deserve to be dusted off and rediscovered; it really sounds like a meaner, faster version of Kreator’s masterpiece “Pleasure to kill” with just the right touch of Japanese HC madness. Bonus CD with the demos plus a great sounding live session (1987)! LP with OBI strip and foldout 11″x22″ insert with photos, lyrics and scans of the original cassettes.

RAW POWER “Screams from the gutter” gatefold LP and digipack CD

Welcome a new pressing of RAW POWER’s masterpiece “Screams from the gutter” (gatefold LP + poster and digipack CD) to celebrate its 40th anniversary.. Originally released in 1985 “Screams from the gutter” turns 40 this year! One of the most iconic Hardcore records of all time, the perfect crossover between furious Italian Punk and a thrashing tornado driven by legendary riffs, vitriolic screams and a ballistic drum section.
F.O.A.D. Records keeps up the unbreakable legacy with Italy’s absolute Hardcore heroes Raw Power giving to their most classic album “Screams from the gutter” a proper deluxe edition, a total quality-care version that makes justice to this timeless Hardcore milestone! Many of you will agree that this is the finest Italian HC offering ever made and easily one of the 10 world’s best Hardcore records of the 80’s.. over 40.000 copies sold and still sounding fresh and up-to-date even when compared to modern HC standards. FOAD’s treatment for this all time colossus consists of a thick glossy gatefold sleeve featuring lyrics and rare/unreleased photos and flyers, a square A2 replica of their cult gig-poster with Cro-Mags and Motörhead + a scrupolous mastering that respects in detail the original reel’s sound leaving full breathe and dynamics to its original impact and (raw) power! 17 gems of intense, no-frills HC with a bombastic drummer, fantastic guitar riffs and angry vocals. It’s a difficult comparison with their other early output – “You Are The Victim” and the excellent material released by BCT – but after all “Screams From The Gutter” marks Raw Power’s peak due to its superior production. The band’s simple yet instantly memorable riffs bring to mind Black Flag, Circle Jerks, but also earlier groups like the Who, AC/DC, and of course, the Stooges. Throw in some cool harmonics, rockin’ solos, a cowbell, and a guitar player with hell-shriek vocals and you have this flawless Hardcore classic!!
